Captain Seccombe’s Bar & Restaurant

The cosy and relaxing bar and dining room at Wheal Tor are a popular haven for locals and visitors alike. Dog and children friendly a warm welcome is always on hand for whoever visits. In the winter the ever greeting log fire plays host to the chilly walkers and in the summer months the spectacular views from both bar and dining rooms windows cannot be surpassed and gives a gigantic window into the true beauty of South East Cornwall and Bodmin Moor.

The bar and restaurant still have the original fireplaces and the warmth from the original granite walls and the fascinating décor and furniture makes it a fascinating and peaceful environment to accommodate its visitors.

You can relax and eat or simply take a drink from the well stocked bar which sells local ales and cider excellent wines and a good selection of soft drinks and spirits.

The menu on offer is available all day from 1100am to 900pm in the summer months the same in the winter but only open Thursday till Sunday – open every day to residents.

The food served at Wheal Tor is now infamous for good home cooked fayre – home cooking at its best with a varied menu to suit all including local steaks & sausages to simple and good value bar meals. The deserts are all homemade with Treacle Tar and Apple Pie topping the bill on most days. Sunday now plays host to the famous Wheal Tor Sunday lunch – not often is a spare table available as people come from far afield to sample this magnificent home cooked Traditional Sunday roast so booking is a must.

The bar also acts as the breakfast rooms for people staying and its often been said that to eat a hearty English breakfast whilst admiring the far reaching views is the best start to any day whilst either visiting or working in the area.
